Mission Trip Recap: August 2023

With hundreds of children being given the opportunity to go to school, dozens of families being pulled out of poverty, and many, many souls being saved every year, Agape International Children Ministries is living in answered prayers and the servanthood and dedication of people committed to enacting the transformation of Christ in the lives of Ugandans.

But in almost every way imaginable, AICM has encountered trials, difficulties, and challenges every step of the way. It has not been as clearly seen that there have been great pushbacks and spiritual attacks affecting this ministry. Through dry, hard, lonely years; AICM grew in grace- it grew in the realization of God’s sovereignty and care of each detail. For as each trial arose, it was responded to by resounding prayer, and answered by God’s divine intervention. It has invoked many tears to discover the great and wonderful fruit springing forth from decades of prayers and God’s faithfulness to bring forth goodness from the fertile soil of hardship.

With this preface, we want to commemorate the greatness of God and His faithful care and guidance of AICM, and we want to share more specifically the details of the latest trip to Uganda and the results and stories of that trip.

The team of seven were in Uganda for 18 days. The theme was “Dwell,” and the team chose to use each day as a chance to abide and rest and remain in Christ. The projects were many and varied: a women’s conference, a men’s conference, a staff day, a project day, and a time of prayer over spiritually dark areas of the village.

The women’s conference was an unmitigated success: ultimately, out of 500 attendees, 75 (YES!! 75 SOULS!!) were saved as they repented and gave their lives to the Lord! 500 women were encouraged, exhorted, and equipped that day! As a sweet bonus, 100 more women graduated from the Poultry Project, which represents 100 more families who have been given the opportunity to have fresh, healthy food and income available for their basic needs.

The men’s conference was a big surprise; the team expected 30 men to show up, and instead, 200 men arrived! Through a generous donor, every man was able to choose a Bible (Luganda or English) to take home and keep for their family. What a wonder to be able to read the living and powerful words of God daily, to their families! The words of eternal life can be imprinted upon their hearts!

That day, 6 men also graduated from the Timothy House. The Timothy House, which is a new project at AICM, is a 4-6 month course in which young men are inundated with transformative study, resulting in men who are strengthened and equipped to effectively share the Gospel and use their lives to glorify God and be kingdom builders before they attend university or begin the next chapter in their story. The graduates were given a Bible and knelt at the altar and wept as the pastors/teachers prayed for them.

A staff day dedicated to the encouragement of our indefatigable team who tirelessly serve the children at ACV and in the village was also hosted during the trip, which was vital to the continuance of their serving and ministering while also being present with their own families!

The team also participated in a project day with the sponsored children. They passed out sponsor gifts to the children, who received their packages with joy, excitement, and tears as they read letters from their sponsors. It truly changes a child’s life to be loved and supported by another person across the world!

Finally, the team walked and prayed and worshiped in the village of Bukerere, knowing that spiritual darkness cannot withstand the light and hope of the Lord. It was a special time for the team and we believe this village is being transformed under the powerful influence of Christ!

Thank you to every person who prayed, supported, and encouraged this team and the work overseas. We are so grateful for the chance to minister in Uganda to the families and orphans who are the most vulnerable and who simply need things like tuition, medical supplies, and simply…hope.
