Waiting Out the Rain
Tonight, as we are sitting at dinner, it began to rain. After a few moments it was no longer just raining but pouring buckets down from the sky. The wind began to lift the tarps from the sides of the restaurant blowing all the rain inside. Our whole team got up and stood together beginning to get soaked by the rain when the waitress called us in to the kitchen in order to keep us from getting wet. As we were standing there, people continued to come in to the restaurant and pickup food. I'm thinking “what are these people doing, its pouring down rain.” When God began to speak and show me that so often I let the uncomfortable stop me from continuing forward. I starting thinking of how while I was "waiting out the rain" I was really waiting for the uncomfortable moment to pass. In my waiting I was missing out on a ministry opportunity. I began to greet those around me and talk to them. I received many smiles and kind words. Had I not looked outside of myself I wouldn't have received the blessing of kindness of those people around me.
“Lord, please let us not hide from things that make us uncomfortable but look for opportunities for ministry wherever we are!”
