Sponsorship: Changing The Future One Month At A Time

In November, Mike and Laurie Armstrong, longtime supporters of AICM, embarked on a journey to Uganda to witness an event that was a miracle years in the making. Here is their incredible testimony...

We are Mike and Laurie Armstrong, long-time Agape and AICM supporters.

In November we were fortunate to be able to spend 12 days with Sandi in Uganda. This was a very special trip for us — the young man from Agape who became our sponsored child in 2004 was graduating from Uganda International University medical school — Dr. Emmanuel Baale!

We were so impressed with the people, events, and programs we experienced. But above all, it was the AICM/Agape staff and the children that touched our hearts and blessed us. Truly, Uganda’s greatest asset is her people.

The love for Jesus is palpable at AICM. We worshipped there several times and they were authentic, moving moments. Interacting with each staff member opened our eyes to their love, dedication and professionalism. As a team they are tremendous. They care and serve as unto the Lord.

The highlight of our time there was the incredible graduation celebration for our son Emmanuel and two other graduates, Rita and Elizabeth. The staff outdid themselves for this memorable event attended by scores of family members, friends and dignitaries.

The staff also made sure our first visit to our currently sponsored child, Shivan, and her family was unforgettable. This home visit was also our first opportunity to see the impact of the Poultry Project, as Shivan’s mother is a very successful, business-minded graduate.

We visited the homes of several other Poultry Project graduates to hear how they have benefitted from the resources and training. These women have all learned to support themselves, and they stand as examples to their neighbors and community thanks to AICM.

Likewise, the AICM community water project is expanding and directly benefitting the health of members of the greater Agape/Bukerere area.

We left Uganda (and long to return) completely thankful for and appreciative of the work of AICM in the lives of the children and their families and the community. May God continue to bless and grow this ministry.”

Thank you, Mike and Laurie, for sharing your story and for your faithfulness in your sponsorship commitment!
