Prison, Mosquito Nets, and Christ.

He was Muslim, recently released from prison, and supposed to be somewhere else that day. Agape International Children Ministries (AICM) team members chose that same day to drop in, and while they knew Mohamad’s son well from the AICM community sponsorship program, they had never met him before. The team members delivered mattresses, mosquito nets, and blankets- supplies his family had never owned. As the team demonstrated how to use the items, Mohahamad watched them from the doorway. Finally, he broke his silence. “Thank you for being God’s people to our family.” Pastor Sam of AICM introduced himself and boldly announced that they were “balokole” - Lugandan for one who is born again. “Whatever we do, it is all about God’s love. Can we share about the Christ Who empowers us to do these things?” Mohamad’s strict Islamic background collided with his desire to hear. He wasn’t even supposed to be home that day, yet his heart had been resisting leaving. Perhaps this was the reason? He said yes to hearing about Christ.

Pastor Sam told the Gospel simply- Christ’s love and man’s undeserving plight- and then asked if Mohamad would like to receive Christ. “I met people who prayed and talked about Christ in prison, but I didn’t believe in being born again.” He continued to talk about how sincerely the “balokole” of AICM treated his family, and how he was not even supposed to be present the day they came. “I conclude that it must be God’s timing and plan for us to meet.” The time had come for him to confess Christ as his Savior, and he became a child of God that very hour!

With questions about Christianity and a desire for true fellowship and friendship with other believers, Mohamad made the commitment to meet weekly to grow as a disciple and learn about his new found faith, and the chance to be born again- “balokole.”
